Frequently Asked Questions

Annual Lawn Mowing Programs

Annual Weekly Lawn Mowing Program

What does the Annual Weekly Lawn Mowing Program Include?

Program includes 27-30 cuts per year on average depending on weather, starting in spring and ending in fall.

When does the season start/stop?

The mowing season typically starts anywhere from March 15th through the second week of April. Every season is different depending on the weather. Typically, HPM will wrap up the mowing season between the first week of November till the last week of November. After this, HPM will transition into the fall cleanup and fall leaf removal for customers who want to prepare their landscapes for the winter months ahead.

Which day of the week do you mow?

HPM will typically mow on a Thursday or Friday of that week. If weather gets in the way, HPM will move the mowing schedule a day earlier to Wednesday or a day later to Saturday.

When will the first service be after signup?

Typically, the first service will be within 24-72 business hours after signup. Occasionally, weather may get in the way as well. If you sign up later in the week, the first mowing could be pushed to the following week.

What time does the crew start mowing?

We start our day at the HPM office in Germantown/Darnestown, MD around 6:30 am and it’s usually after 7:30 am by the time we get to our first mowing locations. Most local laws require us to wait until after 7am due to noise ordinances. Please see the noise ordinance below.

Montgomery County:

Daytime: Weekdays: 7am – 9pm; Weekends & Holidays:  9am – 9pm

Nighttime: Weekdays: 9pm – 7am; Weekends & Holidays: 9pm – 9am

Do you bag clippings?

We do bag/remove grass clippings from the property, but it will be an additional charge for such service. Our machines are equipped with “High Lift” blades which are designed to chop the clippings into fine pieces and discharge back into the lawn as a natural fertilizer. Due to the high costs involved with dump fees, HPM can remove the clippings upon request starting at an additional charge of $100 per instance (larger properties may require a custom quote).

How do mowing notifications work?

A text message or email notification will be sent 24 hours before the expected weekly visit. Once the service is complete, HPM will send out a post service text message or email notification ensuring the property is finished.

What type of mowers are used to cut the property?

HPM uses professional commercial grade mowers consisting of Scag and Exmark/Toro companies. Properties that are up to ½ acre in size will typically use a 30-36” stand on mower or push mow and a 52” stand on mower. For our larger properties (over ½ acre, HOA Communities and Commercial Properties), HPM will use 52-61” mowers which are exceptional for open space. The size and weight of the mowers will not damage the turf or irrigation systems installed in the yard.

What are the payment options?
